Earth at a distance of 160 million kilometers
Not every day you can watch the Earth at a distance of more than 160 million kilometers of space. At the same distance from the Earth is not so long ago, a comet flew PanSTARRS. Spacecraft STEREO-B (Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory B) managed to capture this amazing phenomenon.
In the above image the Earth below is a noticeable bright dot in the middle, and the bright lights in the near corner - a comet's tail PanSTARRS. The head happened to be the famous picture of the Earth «Pale Blue Dot», reminiscent of last mission "Voyager 1" Photo by block were obtained through the formation of heliospheric imaging (Heliospheric Imager), whose main task is to study the physics of coronal plasma mass emissions from the surface of the sun. At the time of passage of the comet the spacecraft was on the far side of the sun.
